Daughters of the King The Daughters of the King is an Order for women who are communicants of the Church who undertake a Rule of Life, pledging themselves to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish. As we begin as a parish, Daughters will be central, not only in praying for us, but in helping us establish prayer as a central part of all that we do.
Episcopal Church Women The ECC is an organization of the women of the parish and the various groups and guilds. ECC works for the fellowship, educational, and service ministries of the church. As St. Benedict once said, they ‘work through prayer and pray through work.’ All women in the parish can participate in ECC.
Flower Guild The guild works along side the Altar Guild to arrange flowers at the Altar and throughout the church for our Sunday Eucharists and other special events at the parish. More Information...
Foyer Dinner Group One of the fellowship groups of the parish, foyer groups are small groups of 10-12 adults who meet monthly to share food and fellowship with one another. These groups are a lot of fun and a great way to get to know each other.

Men’s Club Men of the parish are gather for fellowship, service projects, prayer, and special events throughout the year. From simple pancake breakfasts, to cooking for a spaghetti dinner fundraiser this group has a lot of fun as they build community within the parish.
New Member Ministry This will be our most important program during the early weeks, and hopefully a primary ministry throughout the life of St. Columba’s. We’ll be practicing “radical hospitality.” This means making sure everyone who comes in our doors finds a spot just for them – from a seat in church, to an invitation to a dinner group, and an invitation to share their gifts within our community in one of our smaller groups. Specific roles here are as: (a) Sunday Morning Greeter, (b) Ushers, (c) Staffing the Visitor Table before and after church, (d) hosting a new member coffee that will be held monthly, (e) coffee hosts during Sunday school and after church, (f) a Sunday lunch host – inviting a new face to lunch with you after church.
Outreach Committee Our Outreach Committee works for the spreading of the Gospel in ‘word and deed’ beyond our parish into the local community and beyond. Through financial contributions and service projects and ministries, the Committee helps individuals and groups who are in need. Some projects include working with the Sudanese parish of our Diocese, Habitat for Humanity, and various support groups. This needs to be a rather large committee, so everyone is encouraged to participate.
Stewardship Committee This committee works on the annual campaign for our giving to the Church. Reminding us of our need to give, the committee works each year with all of us reminding us of our Biblical obligation to provide for the needs of the Church, the poor, and those in with hardships. More Information...
Sunday School Teacher Our Sunday School teachers are the backbone of our formation programs. Teaching the children, teenagers, and adults, they help us learn the stories of our faith and through them deepen our relationship with God. Teachers work on the Sundays of the academic year and meet with the Christian education committee. More Information...
Theology on Tap Theology on Tap is a meeting of the 20’s and 30’s of St. Columba’s for fellowship, food, and fun. More Information...
Usher Ushers work on a rotation (about one Sunday a month) welcoming people into the church, handing out bulletins, assisting people coming up for communion, and tallying the Sunday collection. Men and women of the parish are invited into this very important ministry.
Vacation Bible School Committee A great way to introduce new children and their families to the Church, VBS is held each year one week during the summer. VBS needs teachers, snack preparers, craft specialists, general volunteers, and of course – children! The committee begins to meet in late spring and then holds VBS in late July or early August.
Vestry The vestry is the leadership group of the parish and the members are elected by the parishioners each year at the Annual Meeting. Vestry members are adults who are communicants in good standing of the parish, who have made and maintained a financial pledge to the parish, and who are regular in attendance each Sunday. Our first vestry will be formed shortly after we have been admitted into the Diocese at this November’s Diocesan Council.
Welcome Committee The Welcoming Committee is responsible for attending the Welcome Table every Sunday morning. Ours is the ministry of “Radical Hospitality.” We welcome visitors by “mugging” them, giving each family member a welcome gift. We make sure that visitors register so that we can make their welcome a more personal one and we also place follow up calls to all visitors the week after they register. We also gather names of those interested in Newcomers reception. The job is really simple—you just have to smile and say hello! It’s a great way to meet new people. More Information...
Youth Group Youth Group (aka EYC) is made up of teenagers in the parish in grades 6-12. EYC meets with our Youth Director each Sunday and other times throughout the year. Special events and activities are held during the year in addition to the weekly meetings. The parish youth group joins in Diocesan youth programs during the year as well. We’re excited about and committed to this important ministry, and are eagerly watching it grow! More Information...
Youth Group Committee The committee works with our Youth Director to plan the EYC calendar and help with the events. Committee members are not just parents of EYC members; the committee is made up of adults interested in our having a successful and vital program. The EYC advisors meet each week with EYC and the Director and have a more hands on role in the program; committee members serve as resources for the advisors and Director. |
