Stewardship Campaign Each year the parish conducts a campaign asking your pledge of your time and talents for the coming year. Our Campaign this fall will begin October 13th and continue through Sunday, October 28th. Our theme this year will be “Let Your Light Shine,” and will have a special “Divine” World Series event where we can show our excitement for the blessings we experience from God through St. Columba’s community. Stewardship is more than an annual fundraiser for the church’s budget. Stewardship teaches that all that we have and all that we are is a gift from God. We are, therefore, stewards of God’s gifts during our lifetime. Discerning and carrying out God’s purpose is the primary purpose of our lives. The gifts we have been given, time, talent, and money, are to be used for that purpose. Our campaigns every year are designed to help see God as the source of all blessings and how, as Christians, to live in the abundance of God’s love and grace. Christian stewardship is about seeing how we live our lives, how we spend our time, how we use the financial and tangible resources in a way that isn't always that same as the way the world around us teaches. As Christians we’re called to live in the abundance of God—to trust in that abundance and to trust in God’s providing all that we need. A special mailing is being sent to each household that will go into full details about the specifics of the campaign. We ask that you keep the Stewardship Committee, the parish, and each other in your prayers and begin to discern (that’s the church’s fancy way of saying “think about”) what gifts God has given you in your life and how God is calling you to use them. |
