Parish Anniversary Celebration

Sunday, 25 August 2019

Plan now to join us on Sunday, 25 August as we celebrate the anniversary of the consecration of St. Columba's. On 20 August 2006, we moved from worshipping at South Forsyth Middle School and began worshipping in our very own church home.  So we will commemorate the anniversary of the consecration of the church with a festive Mass and more.  Canon John Thompson-Quartey will be our guest preacher for both the 8:30 and 10:30 Masses, and our Mass at 10:30 am will conclude with our choir singing a beautiful Solemn Te Deum.  The Te Deum for centuries has traditionally ben sung on occasions of thanksgiving and the line from the psalmist, "O Lord, let thy mercy lighten upon us : as our trust is in thee.O Lord, in thee have I trusted : let me never be confounded" fully captures the joyful celebration we experience as we worship together in the church building that has become our spiritual home.
Trust in the Lord is what has brought us to become the parish we are today. Trust in the Lord is what helps us see beyond the present and look for the great things God has still yet to do in our parish and in each of our lives. Trust in the Lord is what we hold onto as we gather to entrust those back into God's care at every funeral of those we love. Trust in the Lord is what gives us hope that God is at work bringing peace to all the world day by day.
Pray that we may always remember this trust in God as God promises always to remember His trust in us. May that remembrance keep us from being confounded.  "This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes!" (Psalm 118:23)
