“Hanging By A Thread”

Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm

Christians have used the story of Jesus’ Passion: his crucifixion, death, and resurrection as a story about God fixing sin and all the problems of faithful followers. While that interpretation and re-telling of the Jesus’ cross narrative may have been sufficient in ages past, it no longer satisfies and the assumptions we’ve grown up with leave us ‘hanging by a thread’ today.

Our Lenten program will be a book study of Father Samuel Wells’ book Hanging By A Thread. Fr Wells is the vicar at St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in London, England.

This Lent, we’ll discover the precariousness of faith in the face of modern challenges and doubts. Together we’ll see the depth of God’s love in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

We’re a mixture of good and bad, but God is good all the way down, all the time… Holy Week is the story of what happens when our mixed-up lives come in touching distance of a goodness that goes beyond forever.
