About

Saint

Columba’s

St. Columba's is a rapidly developing parish in the Johns Creek, where South Forsyth, Gwinnett, and Fulton counties meet near the Chattahoochee River.  We are the 93rd parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, and we have grown to just over 1000 members.

We are a Christ-centered community dedicated to building a stronger community on the love and hope of God.  One of the sayings we've adopted is that, "St. Columba's is a church where love is found, all are named, and hearts are freed to change the world." We believe this is what church community is all about. We come from many backgrounds and perspectives, but share a common commitment to growing in the faith and love of God. St. Columba's is a place to ask those discerning questions that life presents, and in Christ, find the answers we're seeking.

Saint Columba’s was founded in 2003 as a growth initiative by the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta to meet the spiritual needs of a growing community in the Johns Creek/Suwanee/Sugar Hill areas.  We are a young parish demographically, and worshiping together in the richness of the Anglican liturgy forms the center of our life together.  We are one of two Anglo-Catholic parishes of the Diocese of Atlanta and our ministries strive to reach out and serve the community around us. Many of the ministries at St. Columba's focus on the needs of those in the community, supporting ministries of The Place of Forsyth, Emmaus House in Atlanta, and Rainbow Village in Gwinnett.

In addition to our Outreach Ministries, ministry to children and teenagers is one of the top priorities of the parish. We have a superb and very innovative Sunday school program and an active, growing youth group for middle school and high school.  Providing ways in which the Christian faith and life can be passed on to the next generation is a joy we all share.  Our worship and music ministries reflect this vision as well.  Music is a tremendous part of our life together.  Two very talented choirs along with one of the most talented organists in the Diocese, the music at St. Columba's inspires us Sunday after Sunday in our prayers, our faith and life.

"Radical Hospitality" is another phrase used about St. Columba's frequently.  We are a Spirit-filled and welcoming community and people new to the parish or even new to the Christian faith find a warm welcome and are invited to join from wherever they may be in their own journey of faith, As we grow in breadth and depth, we will strive to hold on to the friendly, welcoming, mission-centered feeling that has inspired St. Columba's formation.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.

“Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

(Philippians 4:4-7)
